What is a Kitten Heel?
The kitten heel, which got its name because of its resemblance to a kittens claw, is a small heel of 2 inches or less. They were first introduced in the 1950's as an alternative for young adolescent girls, as the higher heels were considered to have too many sexual connotations.

The 1950's were all about the kitten heel |
So we know that fashion comes full circle, and top designers like Christian Louboutin and even our favourite high street stores have locked into the smaller heel. Now as a lover of the sky scraper I've had my fair share of *clears throat* accidents, so you would think I'd jumping for joy about the 'safer' heel.. errm no!
The kitten heel does nothing for a woman's figure, it does not accentuate her calves or elongate her legs... but hey, each to their own. I personally will be sticking to the killer heels, be it the death of me.
